Schalke have dismissed fears they may suffer a hangover using their company derby success against Borussia Dortmund every time they tackle Galatasaray for just a set up the Champions League quarter-finals. The Royal Blues type in the second leg while using advantage from 1-1 attract Turkey, but on the back on the emotionally and physically draining 2-1 convince Dortmund by which they also lost striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar to a knee injury.
The Holland frontman is far from the return leg but coach Jens Keller claimed his side can be ready for that match. He said at Monday's press conference: ``The boys are physically very fit. I think they've already shown that impressively in recent weeks. And for that reason if anyone should feel tired, this feeling will evaporate along at the latest once they approach the stadium and hear the Champions League anthem.
Midfielder Julian Draxler will probably be likely to pose several of the hosts' attacking threat without Huntelaar and said the team were raring to visit. We should experience the momentum and confidence from the victory from the derby and achieve the quarter-finals,'' the 19-year-old said. Keller revealed Finland international Teemu Pukki was ``an option'' in to the future set for Huntelaar to steer the fishing line.
Turkish Super Lig leaders Gala also have a further day to make than their hosts, but suffered an awkward 1-0 home defeat to Genclerbirligi in their last outing last Friday. But Keller insisted he has not been reading anything into that performance.
That it was of concern, though, to Gala boss Fatih Terim, who branded it ``unworthy of our own club'' and demanded an instantaneous improvement. Gala can turn Champions League winners Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder, but Draxler warned Schalke couldn't just center on stopping those two.
